CONGRATULATIONS TO OHIO OKLAHOMA WINNERS To all the Ohio horse-human teams who successfully competed at the Grand National & World Championship Morgan Horse Show, we salute you! big championship classes. Well done, if that is the case, as we all know the hard work and dedication that such a win requires. But perhaps it was finally scoring a ribbon at all, there competing among the elite of the Morgan world. Congratulations to you as well, for you should feel pride in achieving something that many will never experience. And if you just attended, showed your horse to his or her best and had a blast, then great job for committing to taking your horse all that way to compete amongst the best. I was recently reminded of how well Ohio horses, owners, riders, reliable source that the collective group was being referred to as "The Ohio Mafia" by people not blessed enough to come from the Buckeye State. I know of lots of winners, but I'm specifically not stating names, for fear of leaving someone off the list. You all know who you are, so please accept a sincere congratulations from the Ohio Morgan Horse Association!!! |

| Sat. Nov. 19 Chippewa Lake, OH The Oaks Lodge Christmas Oaks Lodge. President Amy Snyder presided over the festivities which included a preview of upcoming events for 2012, the election results for the voting for new board members and the presentation of trophies to all the high point winners. High point awards were lovely, and quite utilitarian for the most part, ranging from hat carriers to boot bags to suit wardrobes to bridle bags. All were decorated with the OMHA logo. Well worth the price of the nomination fee, in this reporter's humble opinion, so note to reader: you might want to nominate your horse for the 2012 program. As many treats as you give that horse, he might as well win you something in return! Final results for all high point participants can be seen on the Hi Point Program page. Remember it takes a minimum of 25 points OR 3 shows to qualify for an award, so even tho' there were points awarded in some divisions, not all divisions were awarded prizes, based on those criteria. Congratulations to newly elected board members, Lois Magisano and Carol Selinsky. Carol is newly joining the board and her fresh insights will be welcome. Lois has served for years, but in the capacity of recording secretary previously. She graciously retired from that position and ran as a board member instead. Joy Scala has agreed to take over the duties as recording secretary. Thanks for volunteering, Joy! Among the upcoming events planned for the new year, President Amy discussed our annual tack swap, another equine seminar and our traditional farm tour. She also announced that the spring show, normally held the first Sat. in May, will be discontinued. |

Jan., 2012 Due to a recent vacancy in the position of Recording Secretary for the OMHA Board of Directors, board member, Joyce Ackerman-Burroughs has graciously volunteered to take over this position. Thank you, Joyce, for stepping forward! As a replacement for Joyce's director position, President Amy Snyder appointed Joy Scala to the board. Glad to have you back, Joy and continued thanks for your time and efforts! The Board of Directors would still love to have member participation in club activities and events. So if you've got some time to spare to make your Morgan club a better place to belong, please contact a board member and let them know that you'd like to help! Returned to active duty board member, Joy Scala. |
